Professional English and Development for The European Teachers_1 (3)_7

Professional English for Teachers is suitable for European teachers who are from an elementary to advanced level of English.

Before getting started with the programme, each teacher receives a test to evaluate her/his level of English. The aim of this procedure is to save time when teachers come to study, so that they can immediately start classes at their level.

Professional English for Teachers is designed to acquaint teachers with the following areas:

  • The Educational System in Britain – lecture
  • Pre-school Education – lecture/visit
  • The Secondary School System in Britain – lecture
  • Experience in Teaching English across the Curriculum – workshops
  • Creative and Critical Thinking in the Classroom – workshops
  • Language Development – workshops

Apart from the core focus of the programme presented above, teachers will participate in language development classes and workshops. Our aim is to develop teachers` listening and speaking skills through communicative activities. Every communication activity is linked with the proper use of grammar, vocabulary, and idiomatic phrases. There are daily classes developing reading and writing skills and teachers are also asked to do extra reading and review the material from class outside of class.

Mornings (with the exception of Wednesdays) consist of four lessons. The first two lessons concentrate on grammar, vocabulary development and appropriate practice activities based on the development of reading and writing skills. The other two lessons provide an opportunity to put new language to communicative use and to provide an integrated approach towards developing listening, speaking and pronunciation skills.

On Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday afternoons there is a 60-minute workshop designed to further communication skills development and fluency. The lessons are organised so that teachers are encouraged to put grammatical structures and vocabulary to practical use. There will be also a visit to a secondary school as the integrated part of the course curriculum.

There is a full day excursion organised to different places of cultural and historical interest in Scotland every Wednesday and Saturday. These trips are included in the price.
